Niovi Kritikou, Curator & Art Historian
From the exhibition catalogue & book: Kritikou, Niovi. "Taximia: Memory of Fotis Kontoglou in the Tradition of the Greek Way — From History to Contemporary Painting." Athens, Greece: Domos Publications, 2026.
"Returning to the work of contemporary creators, such as… Emmeleia Filippopoulou…and many others who sustain this deep conversation with the land, chromatic vibrancy is far more than an aesthetic trace. In their compositions, color becomes an underlying narrative, carrying the sacredness of the landscape, the magic of the memories embedded within it, and the continuity of a traditional history seeking new expression."

Review for the solo exhibition "With One Foot in the Light" at Mets Arts Center.
"The painting exhibition demonstrates a nuanced awareness of art, employing symbology and notations that lend depth and meaning to every detail. The artist intertwines her technique with her inner world, creating a multidimensional space where expression meets metaphysical reality."

Excerpt from an extensive interview discussing the conceptual background, material choices, and personal narratives behind the artist's work.
"I like the figures I create to have a raw, primitive quality, to stray slightly from the strictness of drawing, to possess a touch of mischief. I feel that, in this way, they come closer to the human psyche in all its imperfection: clumsiness, shame, anxiety, doubt. It is cathartic to capture this through painting."
Giorgos Mouloudakis, Musician & Author
Excerpt from a poetic text written in response to the artwork "The Passage" and published on the author's official website. yorgosmouloudakis.wordpress.com
"On the Painting of Emmeleia Filippopoulou."
"There are hours when the troupe wakes from the depths of the cave—which some call the unconscious and others the source of prayers—and begins with a slow, wide, assured stride to occupy all your streets, scraping one by one the hundred wounds time has bequeathed to you, and unfolding before the eyes of the wedding guests the hundred dowries love endowed you with without your knowing; those that every now and then leave their amethysts where the bourgeois throw their garbage. There are hours when the troupe passes before your eyes, and your eyes are closed, with eyelids heavy from the mud of sleep..."
